We had a wonderful party with twinkling lights under the oaks at Buttonwood Farm to celebrate the accomplishments of our members and to recognize the service of others. SFDA members brought delicious food to share as we celebrated. SFDA gave out ribbons to every member participating in the awards program this year. The champion and reserve in each division also received a folding chair. We also recognized the service of both our major SFDA supporter, Jennet Cook Linn and outgoing vice president, Daphne Plug.
Jennet Cook Linn founded SFDA as its first president, when she felt the need to organize and support the growing dressage community in South Florida. She has continued that effort through developing her facility to be both horse friendly, but dressage community friendly as well. She built a covered arena, the first in the area which she has generously shared with us. She has allowed us to host most of our clinics there since weather is always an issue. Jennet’s enthusiasm for dressage has not only inspired a growing dressage community, but also SFDA’s new Inspiring Riders Award.
Congratulations to Jennet Cook Linn for being the first!
Jennet’s plaque reads: To Jennet Cook Linn in recognition of her commitment to the dressage community in South Florida for building the first covered dressage arena and creating the South Florida Dressage Association.
Jennet also won the auditor passes to the February David Collins clinic for the drawing from members submitting responses to the activities survey.
Daphne Plug has been a tremendous asset to the association as part of the second board. She has handled membership, organized our horse shows, shared her photography skills with us, worked on the newsletter, and created many of the boilerplate spreadsheets that we now use.
Daphne’s inscription read:
Thank you Daphne Plug for sharing your passion for dressage and your years of service to the South Florida Dressage Association. We couldn’t be who we are today without you!
It was great night to come together, support each other and recognize the work we had put in this year and to share our goals for the next.
While it was a night to celebrate the year coming to a close, we also welcomed our incoming vice president Lindy Brounley. We thank her for stepping up to the plate and look forward to all the great things she will bring to SFDA!
Congratulations to all of our winners!!
